Sisters for a Weekend

This last weekend my two sisters Andy and Kimi came for a visit. Andy's whole family came, (Andy, Eric Ruth and Sadie) the kids had so much fun together. Those were actually the only pictures that I got. It was so much fun having everyone here. The girls even got to go out to lunch with no babies....thanks Eric!
Katie and little Sadie.
Ruth and Katie were throwing leaves at each other for about 10 minutes
There is this wood barrier that goes all the way around our playground and the girls played a little bit of follow the leader.
They had a lot of fun on the playground.
The weekend was GREAT! I wish I would have gotten more pictures of everyone else but enjoy the pictures of the girls.

Helping Mommy Cook

We made cookies the other day and the kids had such a good time helping. I turned the oven light on so they could watch and they literally stood there and watched the cookies rise. It was pretty cute. Katie would scream...Mommy LOOK...Cookies.

Katie loved the dough.
Admiring their hard work.
I love that Katie likes to help but yesterday it got dangerous. She pushed her chair over to the oven stood up on the chair and was scrambling the eggs as they were cooking. Luckily she didn't get burnt.

Happy Halloween

Okay, so I don't know why the pictures are uploading differently now but I don't feel like re-doing it and putting them all in order so you will get our Halloween backwards. It would probably work out okay if you read the post from end to beginning. Anyway you do you will still get the picture.

I got the prize for most original costume. What is it you ask, that happened earlier in the day.
Paul won the prize for most BOO-tiful baby. I have to say that I agree, but I thought that I was always a little biased.
Katie was just happy to have all of her candy!
The three of us at our ward trunk or treat. It was a lot of fun, and dad was even able to show up for a little bit and take Katie around.

After the kids nap, Katie was really excited to go but we couldn't pass the time fast enough so we decorated her candy bag. It was actually a lot of fun. Maybe we will do it every year.
Paul enjoying his breakfast jack o lantern.
For breakfast I made brains (scrambled eggs) and jack o lanterns (pancakes with banana faces) for the kids. It was a perfect start to a great halloween.

Fall Fun

So we haven't really posted anything for awhile. I guess it means it is time to play a little bit of catch up. We have really enjoyed being outside in the fall weather.
We went to a campground and had tin foil dinners and smores.
It was right by a stream and Katie LOVED throwing rocks in the water. Not just pebbles, she would find the biggest rock she could carry and try and throw it in the stream. This picture is right after she threw it.
Paul has officially mastered the playground. The second we put him down he heads straight for the stairs. He can climb up and crawl all over the playground.
He loves the slide. I think it has been his greatest feat. He can climb all the way up and turn around to slide back down.
It wouldn't be fall without playing in the leaves. We got the pile so big over a couple weeks that it was taller than Katie. She will run around a tree and sing ring around the rosie and then when it gets close to the end she runs about 20 feet over to the pile of leaves and "falls down." It's hilarious.

Another First

That's right, Paul is hitting one milestone after the other. This just happens to be a pretty big one. He has taken his first steps!!! I know crazy. You don't believe me, that's what I thought. So I got proof. It isn't the most he has taken but it is two steps. He took his first step at the beginning of the week. He got up to three in a row. Today he took four, but of course I couldn't get it on camera. So this will have to do.

What went wrong???

Okay, so it is the Saturday morning of Conference and what do I want to do? Easy, wake up and cook some banana bread so Scott can have something good when he wakes up and something to snack on throughout the morning session. So like the good little wife I am I turned the oven on and stuck the chair next to the counter so Katie could help me cook. Meanwhile Paul is sitting in the high chair nibbling on some cheerios. Alright, so there's the scene. As I am grabbing all of the ingredients I started thinking...all of these people lately have been telling me that you can be healthier when you cook if you just use applesauce instead of sugar. You can't tell the difference...so I'm told. I thought why not, lets test Scott's taste buds. So Katie and I put it all together and in the oven it goes. Well 45 minutes later I go and wake up Scott so I can go running before Conference starts. We talk for a minute and he says that it smells delicious. That was the only compliment I got about the banana bread. Well the timer goes off at 50 minutes and I open the oven. Inside much to my surprise/dread whatever you want to call it I see...

Well there you have it. So much for trying to be healthy! I say eat drink and be merry for twenty minutes later I run!!! But if anyone knows the error of my ways feel free to laugh and then correct me. Oh by the way just to let you know, I really don't suck at cooking all of the time. Usually it turns out quite well...it's just when I adventure into the unknown. FOLLOW THE RECIPE, it never goes wrong when I pay attention to the directions.
