Katie was Standing!!!

Katie has been on the verge of standing on her own for a while but she never gets the guts to let go of me and Scott...that all changed today. We were enjoying a yogurt together in the living room on the floor right before lunch. She was sitting right beside me when all of the sudden she grabbed my knee and pushed off of it. She stood there for three bites of yogurt! It ended up being about ten seconds because I would take a bite then she would take a bite. When she was done standing she squatted to a sitting position. She didn't fall down or anything. Then me being the over achiever tried to get her to do it again but of course she wouldn't.

The New Condo

Well we had a request for some pictures of our new place. For now if you want to know what it looks like you can go to benchcondos.com We do not have a camera at the moment because of the break in before we left Utah. Hopefully we will be able to get one sooner than later. We really like the new place but I need to get going on putting the whole thing together.

Adjusting to Boise

Well the time finally came to move to Boise. We headed out of Provo Thursday night at 10pm and didn't get to Boise until 9:07am on Friday morning. The Uhaul we had was pulling our car so we couldn't go over 45 mph. Needless to say it was a VERY long drive. Boise has been fun thus far, but we are hoping we will find some friends soon. Our new ward is pretty small but extremely friendly. Scott started his job at KTVB today and is anxious to be part of the news. Katie has taken to Boise very easily and is loving the stairs in our Condo. Anytime I turn away from her she makes a mad dash for them. I will tell her no quite sternly, only to have her turn around, tilt her head to one side, smile and go back to what she was doing. It is amazing being a mom, but I only wish that I could figure out the whole discipline part. Oh well I guess, Katie already has us both wrapped around her little finger. Might as well give in to it early, right?

Katie's totally mobile!

It is so exciting to watch Katie get up and move around now. She is becoming more independent but is still clinging to mom like crazy. She is crawling all over the place and just this last week she has started to walk along the couches. But the thing that worries mom the most is that she can climb up the stairs now. Just yesterday she climbed up five or six of them. Just one more way that she can injure herself I guess.

An Exciting Weekend

This last weekend Scott, Katie and I took a trip up to Idaho. It was a quick one but long at the same time. We left Saturday morning at around 7 and got to Boise at around 12. From there we went house hunting until around 5:30 then ate some dinner to finally get a break. At this point katie was totally exhausted and pretty upset about being in the car all day. But our efforts were not in vain. We decided on a Condo in downtown Boise. It is only about 5-10 minutes from Scott's job which is much better than the hour commute to Salt lake every day. If you would like to see what the Condo looks like you can see pictures at benchcondos.com. We are pretty excited to have a place of our own. Well after stopping for dinner we headed to Rupert to stay the night with our neighbors who were in town for a wedding. We got there at around 9:30. Stayed for church the next day and enjoyed some time with them. After church we headed towards Idaho Falls to a little town called Terreton to visit with one of Scott's missionary companions. It was a lot of fun. They have a little boy two months younger than Katie and she was flirting her little heart out. Finally we headed home and got back to our apartment at around 10 o'clock last night. It was a crazy weekend filled with a LOT of driving.

Katie's Doctor visit

On Tuesday it was time for Katie's doctor appointment. Off to the doctor we went to make sure that Katie is doing well and get her the shots that she needed. Katie is rolling over now and is trying to scoot. She rolls from her back to her front and gets upset because she hates being on her stomach, so she sticks her rearend up in the air and tries to move forward. It is fun to watch! So at the doctor we were told that she is advanced for how old she is. The doctor gave credit to her athletic genes. Mom was ecstatic to hear that. Hopefully she will choose a sport and excel at it. She weighed in at 12 pounds 15 ounces and is 24 3/4 inches tall! Luckilly she has not had any real health problems since the NICU! Mom and Dad hope to keep it that way.

Scott's news story...

Superbowl time is always exciting but Scott called home yesterday with some great news. He is in a reporting class this semester and got a call from one of the people from the BYU Daily News. She asked if he had a story to cover for this Friday (Feb. 2). He said that he hadn't chose one yet, so was given an idea. She asked him if he would like to go up to Salt Lake and cover the Thunderbird story. They are F-16 jets that are going to do a mid air refuel on their way to the Superbowl on Sunday. Scott gets to be in the refueling jet to cover the story. We are excited for him!
