Home Sweet Home

Adjusting to life with two kids has been relatively easy. I better say that I was able to have my sister here all last week and my mom is flying in to Boise tonight to stay with us for a week. So I guess it has been easy adjusting to being pampered for the last week and a half. It does seem like we have more stuff than we did when it was just Katie but I guess we will just have to get used to that. It has been really fun seeing Katie interact with Paul. I think the only problem is that she loves him a little too much. Every noise he makes she runs to him and kisses his head. Which poses a problem when he is sleeping but I guess he will just have to get used to it. We get to go to the first doctors appointment this afternoon for Paul followed by my post op check up. Hopefully everything will be just great.
Katie has been reunited with an old love. She will swing so fast that the base starts bouncing. I think she likes it more now than she did when she was little.
Paul doing his much hated tummy time.
Our TWO kids. I am not quite used to saying that yet, but I am guessing it will come.

What's in a name?

A rose by any other name would still be just as sweet....right? WRONG...So we were set on naming him James Edwards Evans and even filled out the Birth Certificate information when we both decided that James doesn't fit. I was still at the hospital when Scott called and said that he was hesitant to call him James. In the mean time I was having a hard time calling him that as well. I thought it was just because it was new but after Scott put in his two cents I got the paper work back and we went back to square one. Last night we decided for sure that he was going to be named after his papa. I have loved that Katie is named after me and I really wanted our first son to be named after Scott. So we had a middle name...good place to start. _____ Thomas Evans. Well we got our list of names out and started looking at all of them. We were thinking about Caleb and Paul...when out of no where Scott said he liked Liam. So Scott left last night and we were still trying to figure things out. We were tentatively thinking Liam. So I tried calling him that all last night during my three middle of the night feedings and it wasn't working for me. So I told Scott this morning at about 7. So I tried calling him Caleb and that was a no go when finally Paul stuck. So we have a beautiful baby boy named Paul Thomas Evans. He is just perfect. He is a really good baby and we are really excited to be home and happy with our family of four.
It was really amazing to me how it really did matter what we named him. At first I thought whatever we chose would just stick but I must report that that is not the case.
Okay so enough with that, it is SO great to be home. I am feeling pretty good but quite sore. My sister Andrea flies in tonight and she is going to stay for the week and my mom will be here to help next week so that will make adjusting to having two kids a bit easier. Thanks to everyone that has called, I have loved it. Keep calling it is really good to hear from family and friends. Enjoy the pictures....

James Edwards Evans is finally here!

Well, let me take a step back for you, and take you back to January 12, 2008 - 2:00am. Tiffany woke me up with contractions 5 minutes apart, but no worry, we've done this before. Tiffany knew they were the real thing because of the pain, but she also knew we were several hours away from going to the hospital, so I went back to bed - she on the other hand couldn't. 8:00 am rolls around and Katie is up, we're both up and the contractions are steady, so we decided to go on a walk. We had breakfast at Burger King - and yes, I had coupons - then we walked home and got here around 9:30am.

I then came upstairs and slept while Tiff did something on the computer - remember the husband's role in the birth of his child can be just as straining on him as it is on the mother, and I wanted to be at the top of my game, plus, if we ended up not going I had a full day of work.

Well, time to get ready for work rolled around and Tiffany didn't feel it was necessary to have me stay home with her, so I went to work. Blah, blah, blah, I was at work, and finally came home to Tiffany a little after 5:00 pm because she felt it was time to go to the hospital. So we dropped Katie off with some friends of ours (Scott and Jamie Thompson) then went to the hospital.

We checked in and the lady who admitted us looked at us funny thinking that Tiffany wasn't really in labor with how calm she was, she also didn't like my jokes (I guess there's a first for everything). Well, we went into a room, and they hooked T-diddy up to some monitors and then checked her. Her contractions were 3 minutes apart and she was 90% dilated, and 5 cm. Great news! We didn't have to go home. Bad news! His head wasn't down low enough. They sent us to another room for the delivery - I turned on the Patriots/Jaguar game while about 7 RNs and Doctors came in to give Tiffany ultrasounds to find where the baby is. Well, long story short, his butt was where is head was supposed to be. No, he isn't a butt head - but he was breach, so we had to do a c-section.

Tiffany started to cry, I held it in trying to be strong because that's what men are supposed to do right? She wasn't scared about the procedure, but worried about how she was going to take care of Katie, I on the other hand was worried something was going to happen to her.

Well, as you can see from the pictures, it went perfect. He still came out butt first, but what can you do? I was able to be in the room while it happened and took some stellar pictures, some too graphic for young eyes, but really cool none the less.

We decided on James Edwards Evans if you didn't already know. James is the first name of my (Scott) mother's father, and Edwards is my (Me, Scott again) father's middle name, and Evans is after my parent's last name, and my dad's parents as well, and ... we'll if you need me to go further, email me and I can draw you a family tree.

Katie and James met for the first time around 1:00 pm today, and Katie loved it. She wanted to hold him and love him, and she's going a great job as a big sister, she even supports his head. At that age the biggest problem is loving the little one too much, and Katie is doing that. He doesn't know how to play with her yet, so when she tries to do patty-cake with him, he just cries instead. She also is obsessed with pointing out his nose over and over again. I don't think she realizes that Tiffany and I are well aware of where his nose is - as a matter of fact we can name more body parts than she can. When we James started to get hungry I tried to take him from Katie, and she screamed and cried and held on to him even tighter. She loves having a REAL baby in the house, and we are excited to have kid'S'.

Well, if we haven't called you I am sorry, with 15 kids in my family and 10 in hers and the million friends we have - we won't be able to call everyone, but if you want to call us feel free, we'd love to hear from any and all of you. You can call me at (208) 608-8496 or Tiffany at (208) 608-8476.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Happy New Year...

Okay so this post is going to be pretty random, but I figure it's okay considering we will get everyone caught up on what is going on in good ol' Boise.

Right after coming home from Spokane all three of us got sick. So it was a good thing that the baby didn't come early. This is a picture of poor Katie with her runny nose. It was crazy to look at this and see just how different she looks when she isn't feeling well. Luckily we are all about done being sick now. Down side, Katie is no longer sleeping through the night...makes me a little nervous for when there are two of them screaming at 4 in the morning.
The other day I found Katie run out of the bathroom like this. First let me tell you that Katie LOVES the shower. While Scott was in the shower Katie ran in to the bathroom and tried to get in with him. Her being soaked along with the bathroom floor was the after math. It was so funny though.
This is Katie's new favorite toy. She loves to put my shoes on and walk around. The bad thing is that she can't really do it on her own yet so she will stand next to the shoes crying until I put her feet in and walk around the house with her for about ten minutes. I would be smart to start hiding my shoes.

I tried to stick a video on too but it's not working right now so I will have the computer guru do it when he gets home from work. But for now I better end with a baby update. My due date is tomorrow and alas no baby yet. We went to the doctor today and were told that everything looks great. I asked him to guess how big the baby is and he said his guess was 8 pounds 3 ounces. We will see how close he is...good news though I will not be pregnant next friday for sure. I get to be induced Thursday at 7am. The doctor's office that I go to will not let you go more than a week past your due date. However, my doctor told me that most likely the baby will come before then. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I am so ready to be done with this pregnancy that is for sure. So let the count down begin....

Christmas in Spokane

Scott was lucky enough to get a few days off for Christmas and the doctor said that we were okay to go on the 7 hour road trip so we headed up to Spokane. It was a lot of fun to see family and it was pretty hectic with all of the babies running around. So here are a few pictures to recap the four day trip.
This is three of the five babies that were there under the age of two...the sixth baby came up the day after we left. We were sad that we didn't get to see Robert, Liz and little Emma.
Christmas morning after the festivities settled down...left to right...my little brother Justin's head is cut off, my dad on the phone, my oldest brother Dave and my little brother Ryan.
Katie got a little bike from Grandma and Grandpa Evans, it is a NOISY toy and there is no off button. I am guessing that is why she likes it so much. :0) She loves to sit on the steering wheel and scare me.
This is Katie enjoying the snow after we got home. I love this picture. We had been outside for about an hour and she was just walking around with this piece of snow in her hand. Finally I said Katie do you want to go inside and eat some food...she quickly responded with a mmmmmmm and shoved the snow in her mouth. Apparently she hadn't realized that it was edible until then.
This is up in Spokane when the boys were playing some black ice basketball. Aunt Kimi and Katie.
Katie likes to get in on the action. Every once in a while they would have to stop the game and let her shoot the ball.
Katie Christmas morning with her stocking.
Scott opening his deep fryer
This is what you could find Katie doing the whole time we were up there. Playing around with one of her cousins.
It was a lot of fun to see everyone and we wish that we could have stayed and played longer but I have to admit it was nice to come home to a quiet house. A huge thanks go to Dave and Tiff who are still hosting the Adamson clan at there house, we love you guys!
